Uneven or Weak Spray Pattern
An uneven spray pattern is almost always caused by a clogged nozzle, a partially blocked filter screen, or the wrong nozzle size installed.
Symptoms
- Spray pattern has gaps or shoots in one direction
- Reduced spray distance compared to other heads
- Sputtering or irregular spray
Diagnosis
Debris (sand, dirt, grass clippings) has clogged the nozzle filter screen or the nozzle orifice itself.
Step-by-Step Repair

Turn on the zone and observe the head while running to see the exact problem.

Turn off the zone. Unscrew or pull out the nozzle from the head.

Remove the filter screen (small mesh cylinder below the nozzle). Rinse it clean.

Flush the nozzle under running water. Use a pin or paperclip to clear any debris from the orifice.
Never use a drill bit or wire — it can widen the orifice and change the spray pattern. - 5
Reinstall the filter and nozzle. Run the zone and verify the pattern is even.

If the pattern is still uneven, replace the nozzle. They wear out over time.
